Modern Farmhouse Trend:

This trend is warm and cozy; clean yet traditional. This is a look that should not be fussy and lean towards practical. It should start with a light neutral color and then be accented with reclaimed wood, wrought iron lighting, warm wooden floors, vintage accessories, and millwork feature walls. The look is truest when kept clean and crisp without being kitschy. Layer your fabrics and textures as well.

Colour Trends:

The colour grey is still the leading neutral in our homes. This is a great colour that lends itself to blending with some new accent colour’s such as: burgundy, lavender, hopeful blue’s and rich reds. Benjamin Moore’s colour chart for 2018:

Notable Trends:

  • People are moving away from white and stainless steel sinks. With new products on the market such as granite composite sinks, colours are changing to darker hues of grey, bronze or black. There are also concrete and copper sinks available now.
  • Vintage lighting is easier to purchase these days thanks to site’s such as 1stDibs, Etsy and One Kings Lane. This type of lighting adds a “one of a kind” quality to the rooms in your home.
  • Concrete counter-tops, sinks, and fireplaces are making a huge impact as white marble moves aside this year.
  • Calm and Casual Bedrooms are becoming important to many with simple furnishings that don’t add clutter. Bedrooms become functional when you have the right closet space. See our previous blog post on closets.
